I realise that I’m a little behind the times with this – but you know what they say, better late than never. I’ve been thinking about starting a blog for a while now, in fact longer than a while, but I just haven’t found the courage to bring myself to do it.
After joining Instagram last year (I told you I’m behind the times!) I have been so inspired by all the talented, creative and just down-right lovely people out there. When a few of my very lovely followers suggested they would like to see me start a blog, I decided I wouldn’t put it off any longer.
For those of you who don’t know me, I’m Kate. I’m 28, I live with my husband, Chris and our dog Molly, in an Edwardian semi in Kent. I am OBSESSED with all things interiors related. You know how most girls in their 20’s spend all their money on clothes and make up, well I spend all mine on cushions and candles. No-one ever ended up crying in the corner of a changing room because a cushion made them feel fat. No, cushions always make you feel good about yourself!
We moved into our home just over a year ago and have been working hard since then to make it our own. When we moved in it was very…red. There wasn’t a single room that had been decorated to our taste. Or in fact that had been decorated in the last 15 years I don’t think. It was very dated. But it was exactly what I had been looking for – a project. We had just got married and I missed being busy. All the planning, the endless lists and constantly having something to research. I missed all that believe it or not and so moving house seemed like the best thing to get me back to being busy.
The move was stressful to say the least (more on that later!) but as soon as we were in it all felt worth it. The house just had such a lovely feel to it, which is such a cliché I know but just so true. It’s not huge, and it didn’t tick all the boxes which I said were “must-haves” when we were looking, but I loved it from the moment I saw it online. Although looking back at the photos now I’m not sure why to be honest…there was just so much red!
As you have most probably guessed by now, my blog is going to be mainly Interiors based. I look forward to sharing some of the homes that inspire me, as well as a few shots of my own of course and my take on the latest interior trends. I have a few ideas already but what I really would love to hear what you lovely people would like to see and read about. Any and all ideas are welcome :)
That’s it from me for now. Thanks for taking time time to read my wafffle (boy, first posts are hard! Tell me they get easier from here on?) Can’t wait to read all your suggestions and I’m already looking forward to (hopefully) an easier second post!
