The Downstairs Loo…

The toilet is the last room to do before we’ve finished the downstairs in our house. It’s a tiny little space, but you know me by now…that doesn’t stop me having big plans for it! (Check out my Pinterest board here)

I think, and it seems to be a shared opinion, that the downstairs toilet is the perfect space to create something that might be a little braver than your usual style. A place to be a little adventurous! I know I want to do something different in this room, but I just can’t quite decide how far I want to push it…

My ideas range from bold but stylish, through to ecelectic and quirky and then onto the downright mad!  For some reason I want my loo to be a talking point. Don’t ask me why!

At the moment what I am thinking is something along the lines of a Gentlemen’s study theme. I’d like tongue and groove wood panelling at half height, and then a library or book print wallpaper on the top half.

I’ve been after this bowler hat light for a while, it would be perfect for this scheme. And I just love this fun dog picture – doesn’t he just look like the perfect gent :)

It’s so like me to pick a piece of art before the actual bathroom suite! But I have actually given some thought to the important bits! I love the traditional Edwardian/Victorian style units. The sink needs to be small so I think something like this from Soakology would be perfect.

I’m still searching for an Edwardian style toilet that fits as they all seem to be too tall for the space. Any suggestions please do send them my way.

In the meantime I will leave you with more inspiring loo’s! And don’t forget, if you have a quirky space, please do tag me in your pics on Instagram. And do let me know what you think of my ideas too :)

  1. I love your Pinterest board. If I had a downstairs loo I would definitely go bold. I see so may lovely wallpapers and paint colours that I love but wouldn’t be brave enough to do a whole room with so a small space would be great to show off in and have fun. I can’t wait to see the finished room!
